A Simple Ramayana Story for Kids
While Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana were living in the forest, the demon king Ravana kidnapped Sita and carried her away in his flying chariot, the Pushpaka Vimana.
As Ravana flew across the sky, Jatayu, a brave eagle and a loyal friend of King Dasharatha, heard Sita crying for help. Jatayu immediately flew towards Ravana to rescue her.
Jatayu warned Ravana that kidnapping another man's wife was a great sin. Ravana ignored his warning, and a fierce battle began in the sky.
Although Jatayu was old, he fought fearlessly to protect Sita. Ravana became angry and struck Jatayu with his sword, cutting off his wings. The brave eagle fell to the ground, badly injured.
Later, Lord Rama and Lakshmana found Jatayu lying on the forest floor. With his last breath, Jatayu told Rama that Ravana had taken Sita towards Lanka.
Lord Rama thanked Jatayu for his courage and loyalty. He performed Jatayu's last rites with great respect, treating him like his own father. Jatayu's sacrifice is remembered forever as a symbol of bravery and selfless service.
